Bis is used in France and Italy instead of encore.
Based on other Paluzie sheets using "bis" next to the number it seems to indicate "this is in addition to" the original # produced... It could be that the "bis" sheet is in addition to, an updated version, an altered version or possibly in the case of Teatro Moderno 1090 a replacement version. "Bis" signifies an encore but not to be confused with another by the same number.)

I personally think they may have had numbering issues with there printings there are sheets and keeping track of what was what. The Theater Espanol marked 1060 when it was first printed in the Victorian and continued to be printed into the Edwardian then in the 1920's got revamped into a smaller inclusive sheet with Theater and curtain on the same sheet; but the changed the number to 1090. Then in the 1920s they create the Modern Theater and number it 1090 bis. I do not have the definitive answers to there thoughts or numbering system. Seems like a new design should have a new model number; but what they did... is what they did, and it's a quirk that needs to be considered if you are interested in collecting or looking at Paluzie paper theater sheets. It's not a lot but I hope that helps a bit.
Cheers, Evelyn aka EKDuncanEKDuncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02362063209809089591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5007019440540153.post-84851711054212330802023-05-21T12:56:49.094-04:002023-05-21T12:56:49.094-04:00Hello, Evelyn! I've been reading through your posts, and wanted to ask you if you could finally find out why that one has a "bis" after the number. It sounds like you have a great fondness for these old theaters and I totally agree.

I work on miniature scale and digital format mostly and I've never assembled a large wood built theater. I'm sure your children were thrilled to have had that experience, so that's wonderful.

I've posted this theater at a small scale so people can print it out on regular paper and create a very small personal theater. There is just something fun about miniature scale that I can't resist.

The antique pages I have in my collection for creating theaters range in size but none of the ones I own are much larger than a newspaper page, I only have a small handful of that size. Most of mine are about the size of a Life Magazine or a bit smaller. I learned early on that the larger sheets are hard to store and since I work in small scale my collection has focused on collecting the smaller sheets only. Thanks again for sharing your story with me, I'm sure others will find it interesting as well.

Best Wishes,
Evelyn aka EKDuncanEKDuncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02362063209809089591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5007019440540153.post-70454492961295601142021-05-13T02:21:02.913-04:002021-05-13T02:21:02.913-04:00Hi, it could be interested to know what are the di...Hi, it could be interested to know what are the dimensions of your models. In the early 70s I found in Paris a full set of a miniature theater probably of Swedish brand by the name on the frontispice of the proscenium. Build with wood and furnish with a full collection of sets and "actors", I bought it and completed the stage with elements of Mecano as to be able to makes sets change descending from the grill or slide the sides of the stage. The stage is approximately 70cm wide and high and the proscenium width 30cm. There is room under the stage to have elements of the sets or personages to appear from under the stage. I put lighting to be able to give any atmosphere on the sets. I even added a red velvet curtain which opens like Scala or the Met theaters, Italian style. I used the theater to make my children aware of the great plays of Molière, Racine, Corneille and other great French playwrights which are today considered at school as out of fashion. When they had good marks at school I would organize a performance during the week end. Today they are of course 43 and 50 but remember those days with nostalgia. I still keep the theater although I have no grand children.Claudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09473687365674268257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5007019440540153.post-43549415397042472582021-04-22T11:59:29.062-04:002021-04-22T11:59:29.062-04:00Thanks for your interest in my post from 2013. I got her as a child in 1972 and the original was only made for a year. I know Blythe started being produced again decades after my original was made but I have no idea how those dolls and parts were marked. I know Blythe has a huge following in Asia so you might need to find posts by a current Blythe collector to find the information you seek.

Best Wishes on your search,
Evelyn aka EKDuncanEKDuncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02362063209809089591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5007019440540153.post-84264819302930980782021-04-14T21:36:16.336-04:002021-04-14T21:36:16.336-04:00HI ,
